Assigning Campaigns to Zones
Zones (or placements) won’t display ads until you assign a campaign to them. This step links your advertiser’s campaign to a specific zone so that AdButler knows which ads to serve and how to prioritize them.
How to Assign a Campaign to a Zone
There are two ways to assign a campaign:
1. From the Zone Window
- Go to Publisher → Zones.
- Select the Zone you want to configure.
- Scroll to the Assignments section.
- Click + Assign Campaign.
- Choose the campaign you want to link.
- Configure Serve Method, Scheduling, and Pacing (if applicable).
- Click Save Assignment.
2. From the Campaign Window
- Go to Advertiser → Campaigns.
- Select the Campaign you want to assign.
- Go to the Zones tab.
- Click Assign to Zone.
- Choose the zone(s) where this campaign should serve.
- Configure Serve Method, Scheduling, and Pacing (if applicable).
- Click Save Assignment.
Note: A single campaign can be assigned to multiple zones, and a single zone can host multiple campaigns. AdButler determines which campaign to serve based on priority, targeting rules, and delivery settings.

Serve Method, Scheduling & Pacing
When you assign a campaign, the Serve Method and scheduling controls are available only if the campaign was created with campaign-level scheduling.
- Campaign-Level Scheduling: Pacing (Standard, Smooth Delivery, or Evenly Paced), impression quotas, and frequency capping are configured during the assignment step.
- Ad Item-Level Scheduling: Scheduling and pacing are controlled at the ad item level and will not appear when assigning the campaign.

Serve Method Options (for Campaign-Level Scheduling)
- Standard (As Fast As Possible): Serves impressions immediately without pacing.
- Smooth Delivery: Evenly distributes impressions over the campaign’s date range.
- Evenly Paced: Attempts to serve the same number of impressions daily.
Tip: Use Smooth Delivery or Evenly Paced for long-term campaigns, and Standard for short-term, high-impact campaigns.
Adjusting Priority
- Campaigns higher in the Assignment List have higher priority.
- Drag and drop campaigns in the Assignments list to set their order.
Note: Campaign priority is applied after targeting rules and quotas. If a campaign doesn’t match targeting or is out of quota, AdButler will serve the next eligible campaign.
Best Practices
- Always assign at least one default campaign or creative as a fallback.
- For testing, assign a single campaign first to confirm the zone is rendering.
- Combine targeting, serve methods, and scheduling to control when and how each campaign serves.
