Frequency Capping
Frequency Capping and Delivery Settings
In AdButler, Frequency Capping and Delivery Settings (Pacing) are configured alongside Schedules. These settings control how often a user sees an ad and how impressions are distributed across the schedule.
What is Frequency Capping?
Frequency Capping limits the number of times an ad is shown to the same user over a defined period. This helps prevent ad fatigue and improves campaign performance.
Examples: - Limit a user to seeing an ad no more than 3 times per day. - Cap impressions to 10 times per user over the entire campaign duration.
Configuring Frequency Capping
- Go to Advertisers, then select your Campaign.
- Click Settings or Edit Campaign.
- Under Schedule and Delivery Settings, look for Frequency Cap.
- Set:
- Impressions Per User – The total number of times a single user can see an ad.
- Time Window – Whether the cap applies per day, per hour, or across the entire campaign.
- Click Save.
Delivery Settings and Pacing
Delivery Settings control how impressions are paced across the schedule:
- Standard (As Fast As Possible) – Serve all impressions as quickly as possible, without pacing.
- Smooth Delivery – Evenly distribute impressions over the campaign’s date range.
- Evenly Paced – Deliver approximately the same number of impressions per day.
Steps to Configure Delivery Settings: 1. Open the Campaign or Ad Item and click Pacing and Schedule. 2. Select your preferred Delivery Method: - Standard, Smooth Delivery, or Evenly Paced. 3. If applicable, set a Quota (impressions or clicks) for the schedule. 4. Save the changes.
Best Practices
- Combine Frequency Capping with Smooth Delivery to maintain consistent performance.
- Use Evenly Paced campaigns for long-term branding initiatives.
- Monitor Campaign Reports to verify that delivery and capping are working as intended.
- Adjust Capping for High-Impact Ads – If click-through rates drop, reduce frequency.
