Creating Zones

A Zone is an ad placement container under a Publisher. It defines where ads will appear on your site or app (e.g., a 300x250 sidebar banner). After setting up a Publisher, the next step is to create your first Zone.

Steps to Create a Zone

  1. From the left-hand navigation, click Publishers.
  2. Select the publisher you just created.
  3. Click Zones in the publisher view.
  4. Click + Create Zone (top-right).
  5. Fill in the required details:
    • Zone Name – A descriptive name (e.g., Homepage Sidebar 300x250).
    • Ad Type – Choose the ad type:
      • Standard (Image/HTML) – For regular display ads.
      • Video (VAST) – For video ad placements.
      • Native – For custom content or template-driven ads.
      • Email – For ad serving inside email campaigns.
    • Default Size – Specify ad dimensions (e.g., 300x250, 728x90).
    • Zone Settings – Configure rotation, delivery rules, or a default creative.
  6. Click Save to create the zone.
Tip: Use clear naming conventions for zones (e.g., Homepage-Header-728x90) to easily identify placements when you’re working with multiple zones or publishers.

Assigning the Zone to Your Publisher

When a new zone is created, it’s automatically linked to the publisher you’re working under.
From the Zones tab inside your publisher: - You can view all zones linked to that publisher. - You can edit existing zones or add new ones.

Getting the Zone Tag

  1. In the Zones list, locate your new zone.
  2. Click on the zone to open the Zone Overview page.
  3. Click Get Tag (top-right).
  4. Copy the generated JavaScript Tag (or select an alternative tag type such as iframe or direct link).
  5. Paste the tag into your website’s HTML where you want the ad to appear.
Tip: JavaScript tags are the recommended choice for most placements because they allow for advanced features like keyword targeting and data keys.

Testing Your Zone

  • After placing the tag on your website, refresh the page to verify that a default creative or blank ad space appears.
  • If nothing displays, check:
    • Placement of the tag (ensure it’s within a valid container).
    • Browser console logs for JavaScript errors.
Note: A zone will remain empty until you assign a campaign and creative to it.

Next, we’ll guide you through Creating and Managing Campaigns, which link ads to your newly created zones.
