Ad Scheduling and Pacing
Ad Scheduling and Schedules
In AdButler, Schedules allow you to control when and how often your campaigns or ad items run. You can define start and end dates, set impression quotas, and choose a delivery method to ensure your ads serve at the right pace.
What is a Schedule?
A Schedule is an optional setting on both Campaigns and Ad Items that defines: - Start and End Dates – The active period for the campaign or creative. - Quota – A limit on the total number of impressions or clicks to serve. - Delivery Method – How impressions are distributed over the schedule.
You can choose to configure a schedule for the entire campaign or for individual ad items, giving you fine-grained control.
Creating a Schedule
- Go to Advertisers, then select your Campaign.
- Depending on whether you've selected Campaign Level targeting or Ad-Item Level targeting when you created your campaign, the schedule will live either at the Placement (where the Campaign is Assigned to your zones), or at the Ad-Item Level.
- Campaign-Level Schedule if you want all ad items to follow the same schedule.
- Ad Item-Level Schedule if each creative needs its own unique schedule.
- Configure:
- Start Date and Time (optional).
- End Date and Time (optional).
- Quota – The total impressions or clicks to serve during the schedule period.
- Delivery Method – Choose between:
- Standard (As Fast As Possible) – Serve impressions as quickly as possible.
- Smooth Delivery – Evenly distribute the quota over the entire date range.
- Evenly Paced – Deliver approximately the same number of impressions each day.
- Click Save.
Delivery Methods Explained
Standard (As Fast As Possible)
Serves impressions as soon as possible, without pacing. Best for short-term, high-impact campaigns.
Smooth Delivery
Evenly distributes impressions over the entire date range to avoid early burn.
Evenly Paced
Targets a consistent number of impressions per day, ideal for campaigns that require steady exposure.
Best Practices
- Use Campaign-Level Scheduling if all ad items share the same timing and pacing requirements.
- Use Ad Item-Level Scheduling for A/B testing or when different creatives have different timelines.
- Set a Quota with Smooth Delivery to prevent impressions from running out early.
- Use Evenly Paced for brand campaigns that require consistent daily visibility.
