Creating Campaigns
A Campaign is where you configure when, where, and how your ads (Ad Items) will run. Campaigns sit under Advertisers and act as the bridge between creatives and ad slots (Zones).
When to Create a Campaign
Create a campaign once you have:
- Defined an Advertiser (e.g., your client or brand).
- Chosen which Zones (placements) the ads will run on.
- Decided on timing, pacing, and targeting rules.
Campaigns let you control delivery speed, rotation, targeting, and scheduling.
Types of Campaigns
AdButler supports two main campaign types:
- Standard Campaigns – For image, HTML5/Rich Media, email, and native ad items. These can be assigned to standard or email zones.
- VAST Campaigns – For video ads using VAST tags. These can only be assigned to VAST zones and must be enabled in your account settings.
Steps to Create a Campaign
- In the left-hand menu, click Advertisers, then select your advertiser.
- Click + Add Campaign (or Add Campaign) at the top-right.
- Choose your campaign type:
- Standard – For display, email, or HTML ads.
- VAST – For video ads (if enabled).
- Enter a descriptive Campaign Name (e.g., BrandX Q3 Promo).
- (Optional) Add a Roadblock Tag for exclusive on-page delivery.
- (Optional) Add Trusted Redirect Domains if using third-party click macros.
- Choose targeting and scheduling scope:
- Apply to entire campaign, or
- Apply per Ad Item (note: this cannot be changed later).
- (Optional) Assign a Contract for advanced tracking.
- Click Create Campaign to finalize.
Tip: Use clear, date-coded naming (e.g., Client-SummerSale-Aug25) to simplify reporting and organization.
