Expiration & Pacing

The "Expiration & Pacing" options allows you to restrict an assignment relative to a date and time schedule and/or a quota, and determine how quickly you would like the ads to be displayed.

Delivery Method

AdButler has two deliver methods available:

Default delivers the impressions as quickly as possible for the assignment.

Smooth Delivery uses an algorithm to dynamically calculate a distributed delivery rate that will evenly serve over the lifetime dates and quotas that have been set. For example, if our campaign has a quota of 30,000 impression set over a period of 60 days, the system would serve the assignment 500 times per day (granted it was provided the opportunity to).

How to configure Smooth Delivery

  1. Navigate to the assignment page of the ad item or campaign you're working with.
  2. Scroll down to "Expiration & Pacing" and expand the tab.
  3. Use the dropdown menu next to "Delivery Method" to select "Smooth Delivery".
  4. Using the information above, configure your Lifetime dates and Lifetime quota.
  5. Using the dropdown next to "Under Delivery Behaviour", select whether you would like the advertisement to end on your selected "End" date, or continue serving until it's reached it's quota.
  6. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page.

Lifetime Dates

Utilizing "Lifetime Dates" allows you to set a start and end date for a ad item or campaign. The system provides accuracy to the hour, and the end date can be as far in the future as desired. Leaving the "End" field empty allows you to set a start date for an assignment and let it run for as long as you want.

How to set Lifetime Dates

  1. Navigate to the assignment page of the ad item or campaign you're working with.
  2. Scroll down to "Daily Limits" and expand the tab.
  3. Next to "Lifetime Dates" select check on "Use Date Range"
  4. Using the calendars, select your start and end dates. You may select a time as well.
  5. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page.
Please Note: The time you set within AdButler reflects the same timezone that you have set within your AdButler settings.

Lifetime Quota

"Lifetime Quota" allows you to impose a hard limit on the amount of clicks or views an assignment gets. The system allows you to either edit the remaining inventory available, which will combine historical data to reach a total quota, or input a total quota, which will calculate the remaining inventory available.

How to set your Lifetime Quota

  1. Navigate to the assignment page of the ad item or campaign you're working with.
  2. Scroll down to "Daily Limits" and expand the tab.
  3. Next to "Lifetime Quota" select check on "Enable Quota"
  4. Using the dropdown, select either "Views" or "Clicks" and enter your desired number.
  5. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page.
Please Note: The numbers used for "Lifetime Quota" are total numbers, not multiples of 1000.
